ISFA rejects GMO

The question of production of genmodified Atlantic salmon has recently been raised after USAs Food and Drug Administration granted its approval this week. ISFA already made its policy on GMO twenty years ago. The following policy was adopted at the Seventeenth General Meeting (1996):

In accordance with sound environmental practice, the ISFA firmly rejects transgenic salmon production.

The statement was reconfirmed at ISFAs Twenty Third General Meeting in August 2000.
